An Antique Korean Late Joseon Dynasty Elm Storage Trunk (Apsang) Late 19th / Early 20th Century.

The rectangular top-opening trunk is constructed from elm wood panels with a clear, honey-colored lacquer finish.

The exterior features continuous hand-painted pungsokhwa (genre/folk art) scenes depicting seasonal rural life, agricultural labor, traveling figures in traditional hanbok, and village architecture.

The front is fitted with a centralized round brass lock plate and latch, flanked by incised corner reinforcement brackets.

The sides are fitted with heavy bat-wing shaped brass carrying handles.

Unusually, the interior is fully lined with period Chinese text paper/newspaper, rather than the more common Korean Hanji script.

Raised on a contemporary or separate low wooden stand.
