Sculptural British tailoring in luminous silver jacquard
A remarkable vintage jacket by celebrated British designer Tomasz Starzewski, beautifully tailored in luminous silver floral jacquard.
The longline silhouette is gently shaped through the waist, with a sculptural mandarin-style collar and two exquisite twig-and-leaf metal fastenings. The tonal botanical design is woven into the fabric, allowing it to shift subtly between soft pearl and silver as it catches the light.
Fully lined and impeccably structured, this is an exceptional statement piece for an evening occasion, wedding, formal event or elegant dinner.
The fabric is extraordinary, but it is the tiny sculptural fastenings that make this jacket truly memorable. They look almost like little pieces of jewellery against the silver jacquard.
I also love the restraint of the design. Despite its lustrous fabric, the long, clean line and beautifully shaped tailoring make it sophisticated rather than showy.
Tomasz Starzewski is renowned for architectural tailoring and couture workmanship. His clients have included Diana, Princess of Wales, Baroness Thatcher and several members of the British Royal Family.
