CLASSIC LAND ROVER AND RANGE ROVER RESTORATION
We are a small classic Land Rover restoration and spares business based in Cornwall in the far South West of the UK. We specialise in the restoration of early and/or interesting Land Rover vehicles. This means all Series Land Rovers, early 90/110/127 Defenders, and all early Range Rover Classics (2 and 4 door) as well as early Discovery cars 1 cars.
We can offer basic back to factory spec builds, specialist 'resto mod' builds and anything in between. We are fully committed to bring you the very best restoration we can depending on your budget and we have plenty of advice and knowledge to offer. We also however have a selection of 'project' vehicles requiring restoration and which are worth saving in our opinion. This listing then is for one of our project vehicles.
This particular listing is for a 1987 LR 110 Hard top fitted with a factory 2.5 petrol engine that has come into us in a very original, complete and unrestored condition. The car has come in partially stripped due to a started but unfinished previous restoration and it is the kind of vehicle that could be either kept on the road as it is albeit with some improvements, semi restored as a rolling project or taken off the road and subjected to a full body of strip down and rebuild in order to preserve it for the next 40 years.
The car benefits from being a year away from MOT, TAX and ULEX exemption so this means that the car will be very cheap to own and run. It also means you can pootle around into Central London and other ULEZ zones should you wish too without having to pay the very expensive daily charges associated with newer vehicles.
This is a 1987 registered ex Civil Authority 110. Back in the 1980s LR still built petrol 90/110 vehicles and many were destined for the MOD or Civil Service. MOD petrol cars were generally the 3.5 V8 version and the civil service got the 2.5 petrol engine models. This 110 was built as a white 110 but at some point its undergone a respray into blue.
The general condition of this 110 is good. The body work is generally sound and straight. There is work needed to repair (or replace) the bulkhead and the front doors as usual have lost their lower frames but both bulkhead and doors are good enough to repair should that be your choice.
The chassis is exceptionally good for an original 1987 frame. It still has its original rear cross member which is unheard of for a car this old. The chassis (and rear cross member) are all good and with some small repairs here and there could be easily saved meaning the car can keep its originality intact.
The engine is believed to be a good runner but the starter motor packed up (several spares are included) when the previous owner was fiddling with carb settings (new unfitted carb assembly also included) and there are some other used and new spares included with this vehicle including a new radiator assembly.
The previous owner was (we believe) attempting to under take work to transform this 110 into an expedition vehicle but due to illness the project stalled and was eventually shelved.
So, a basic but early 110 in good overall condition and looking for a new forever home. Ideal for someone looking for a no nonsense and simple LR 110 that is shortly to be free from tax/MOT/ULEZ charges and the perfect platform for the vehicle of your choice.
Regarding restorations, we are able to work to any budget (within reason) but with prices starting from around £25k the only limit is your imagination. Our restorations typically take between 6 and 18 months depending on the finish and a typical price is between £45-100k for a fully restored car (depending on finished model and spec).
We are a business of 2 halves. The original part of our business specialises in used Land Rover/Range Rover sales and spares with the emphasis on Series and Defender models but also covering all models in the range over all years. The 2nd side of our business is all about the restorations and project cars which is actually where our roots lie and from where our passion comes from all of those years ago.
We are a small but dedicated team and most of us have been Land Rover owners since our early years. Collectively we have owned and played with almost all model types from 1949 onwards and we all also have a passion for travel and adventure (get in touch for information about our overseas expeditions) so we're about as Land Rover as its possible to be.
