This is a brand new Airfix A08019A 141 piece plastic kit which builds into a 1:72 scale model of a Vickers Wellington Mk.1A/C. The completed model is 272mm long x 365mm wide.

Teh Wellingtonwas a long range medium bomber designed for the RAF during the 1930s at Vickers Brooklands factory. Using the fabric covered geodetic lattice structure originally developed by Barnes Wallis for airships, the airframe quickly gained a reputation for strength and the ability to withstand impressive amouts of enemy fire and punishment when the Wellington went to war in 1939. Serving alongside the Whitley and Hampden, the Wellington suffered disastrously in unescorted daylight raids at the start of the war but once moved to night operations it was able to operate effectively and despite being withdrawn from frontline roles in 1943 it was still being produced at the end of the war, the only RAF bomber to be in constant production throughout the conflict.

This model is being sold to raise funds towards the restoration fo BR Class 50 50030 Repulse, based at Peak Rail.
