Item Details

The Real Car

2006 was Marco Andretti’s rookie season in the IndyCar Series, driving the number 26 NYSE Dallara-Honda for his father’s Andretti Green Racing team. At 19 he was the youngest driver on the grid. The year is remembered above all for the Indianapolis 500: Andretti qualified ninth as fastest rookie, led late, and looked set to become the first rookie winner since 1966 until Sam Hornish Jr. passed him on the final straight. He finished second, with Michael Andretti third — a 2-3 for the family. He ended the season with a first IndyCar win at Sonoma and was named Rookie of the Year.
