DESCRIPTION
Vintage Resistol Self-Conforming Long Oval Western cowboy hat in a deep black felt with classic wide-brim styling.
This is a substantial traditional Western hat featuring Resistol’s Self-Conforming construction, Long Oval designation and original size marking of 7 1/4 / 58. The tall shaped crown, approximately 4-inch brim and understated black hatband give it a clean traditional Western appearance.
The exterior felt presents especially well for a previously owned hat. The black remains rich and dark, and no holes or pitting were observed. Interior retains its satin lining, sweatband, Long Oval label and size tag.
The hat is being offered in its existing shape. As is common with previously worn Western hats, the brim is not perfectly flat and may be professionally steamed or reshaped according to the next owner’s preferred Western profile.

CONDITION DETAILS
Good pre-owned vintage condition with normal signs of previous wear.
Exterior black felt presents very well with strong, even color. No holes or pitting were observed.
The underside of the brim remains in good overall condition with light wear consistent with normal handling and use.
The interior sweatband shows visible, fairly uniform wear and has a more textured surface rather than a smooth finish. This is clearly shown in the photographs and should be considered part of the hat’s existing vintage condition.
The satin lining remains intact and presents well overall, with light wear and minor smudging from previous use.
Exterior hatband remains in good condition and lies properly against the crown.
The brim is not perfectly flat and the hat may benefit from reshaping/steaming to suit the new owner’s preferred profile. A light cleaning or professional hat cleaning may further improve its overall presentation.
No attempt has been made to professionally clean, steam or reshape the hat.

Due to the hat’s wide 4-inch brim, an oversized shipping box is required to properly protect its shape during transit. The hat will be carefully packaged in approximately a 17” x 11” x 13” box. Please note that shipping carriers calculate rates partly based on package dimensions, so shipping may be higher than for smaller-brim hats that can safely be shipped in a more compact box. The larger box is necessary to provide adequate clearance and help prevent the brim and crown from being crushed or damaged during shipment.
