Description:

Vintage 1970 Soviet illustrated postcard featuring a humorous Russian folk scene of a boy who has “caught” a large bear — but the bear refuses to let him go.

The colorful illustration shows the frightened boy held tightly by a huge black bear in a forest, surrounded by flowers, birds and trees. A wonderful example of the distinctive decorative style of famous Russian and Soviet illustrator Yuri Vasnetsov, known for his illustrations of Russian folk tales, nursery rhymes and children’s books.

From the “Rainbow Arc” (Raduga-Duga) series. Published in Leningrad, USSR, in 1970 by Avrora (Aurora) publishing house.
