It offers an attractive assortment for collectors, tableware displays, afternoon tea settings, prop use or further research.

Bundle contents

  • One fitted presentation case containing approximately 12 matching decorative teaspoons and one pair of sugar tongs.
  • One fitted presentation case containing approximately 6 long-handled spoons. The spoons have decorative handles and are arranged in alternating directions within the case.
  • Two clear glass drinking vessels or tumblers, each fitted with an ornate silver-coloured metal holder, openwork decoration, crest-style motif and handle.
  • One pedestal sugar scuttle with curved bowl, decorative edging and raised handle. The underside is marked Regis Plate Regd, E.P.N.S., Made in England and N7132.

Materials and identification

  • The collection appears to be predominantly silver plate or EPNS.
  • The sugar scuttle is clearly marked EPNS, meaning electroplated nickel silver.

  • The precise silver content of each individual piece has not been tested or verified.
  • No claim is made that the entire collection is solid silver.
  • The items have not been weighed for precious-metal value.
  • The sugar scuttle is identified as Regis Plate. The makers of the remaining pieces are unknown.

Condition

  • Used vintage condition with general age-related wear.
  • Surface scratches, rubbing, tarnishing, discolouration and areas of plate wear may be present.
  • The glass vessels show residue or staining around their lower interiors and would benefit from careful cleaning.
  • The sugar scuttle and loose utensils show visible scratching and tarnish.
  • The presentation cases have wear, marks and ageing to the exterior and lining.
  • The blue and cream satin-style linings show creasing, impressions and discolouration consistent with age.
  • The set has not been professionally cleaned or polished, allowing the buyer to choose their preferred conservation method.
  • No obvious major glass breakage is visible in the supplied photographs, although minor marks should be expected.
  • Please examine all photographs closely, as they form an important part of the condition report and show the exact items included.

Additional information

  • This listing is for the complete mixed bundle shown in the photographs.
  • Approximately 24 individual components are visible when every spoon, tong, vessel and accessory is counted separately.
  • Counts are based on the supplied photographs. The photographed contents should be treated as definitive.
  • Dates, patterns and makers have not been fully researched.
  • A characterful vintage collection suited to collectors of British silver plate, decorative flatware and traditional tea-table accessories.
  • Sold in support of Barnardo's charity.
