Published by Day & Son, London, 1863
VOLUME 1 ONLY (of a 3 volume set)
With 100 full page chromolithographs.
The covers are well rubbed and worn in places.
Internally the pages are generally in very good condition. Some age toning in places & occasional marks in places and a few tears to some of the tissue guards. The colours of the chromolithographed plates remain nice and vivid. Some of the pages are a bit loose.
There are library stickers inside the front cover. All of the plate pages have been blind stamped with the stamp of Manchester Free Library. Although they do encroach into the chromolithography the blind stamps are quite unobtrusive and usually positioned right at the base of the plate at the image edge.
