Up for auction/sale is a beautiful, traditionally crafted Chinese archer's thumb ring, historically known as a Banzhi (扳指), this piece is an excellent addition for collectors of Asian art and fine jade.

The ring is carved from a dual-tone jadeite jade. The main cylindrical body features a translucent, pale celadon-green hue. The master lapidary brilliantly utilized the stone's natural geology, placing a rich, vibrant patch of intense emerald/apple green directly on the prominent flat saddle to showcase the intricate carving.

The flattened face is finely carved in low relief with a central medallion featuring the auspicious Chinese character "Fu" (福), representing good fortune, blessings, and happiness. The character is elegantly framed by symmetrical archaic scrollwork and stylized foliate motifs.
