Directed by Danny Steinmann, Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning continues the story of Tommy Jarvis years after his terrifying encounter with Jason Voorhees in The Final Chapter. Now living at a secluded halfway house, Tommy finds himself surrounded by another brutal series of murders.

Released in 1985, A New Beginning became one of the franchise’s most distinctive and controversial installments, expanding the Tommy Jarvis storyline while playing with the mystery surrounding the identity behind the hockey mask.

1988 Paramount Home Video Edition

This is the collectible 1988 Paramount Home Video VHS reissue of Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning.

The original slipcase features the memorable white hockey mask illuminated by red light against a dark background, along with the contrasting white spine and back panel and classic Paramount Home Video branding.

This factory-sealed copy retains the original Paramount “Great Movie Great Price!” promotional sticker, still wrapped across the front and spine. The 1988 issue represents an early Paramount re-release of the film rather than the original 1985 VHS edition.

The combination of the 1988 Paramount edition, factory-sealed condition, original promotional sticker and iconic hockey-mask artwork makes this an especially attractive example for vintage horror VHS collectors.

Condition

Brand new vintage condition.

This copy remains factory sealed in its original shrinkwrap. The original Paramount “Great Movie Great Price!” promotional sticker remains intact across the front and spine.

The front artwork retains excellent color and gloss and presents extremely well. There is age-related storage wear visible through the shrinkwrap, particularly along the white spine, back panel, edges and corners. The shrinkwrap shows some wrinkling and bunching around the upper and lower edges.

There is also visible residue/marking from an old security or inventory sticker on the white spine, along with a vintage marking/sticker on the lower back portion of the box, as clearly shown in the photographs.

Overall, this is a very attractive sealed example of the 1988 Paramount edition, with the original shrinkwrap and period promotional sticker still surviving.

Please review all photographs carefully for the exact condition of the original box, edges, corners, shrinkwrap, promotional stickers and factory seal. Photos are part of the condition description and show the exact copy you will receive.

A great piece for collectors of Friday the 13th, Tommy Jarvis, Paramount Home Video, factory-sealed VHS, 1980s horror, vintage horror tapes and classic slasher films.
