This is a vintage BOSS CS-1 Compression Sustainer guitar effects pedal made in Japan.
The CS-1 features LEVEL and SUSTAIN controls together with a NORMAL / TREBLE mode switch. It is designed to provide compression and sustain effects for electric guitar and other compatible instruments.
Basic operation has been checked. Power operation, CHECK indicator, compression/sustain effect, LEVEL control, SUSTAIN control, MODE switch, input, and output operation were checked.
The serial number is 084500, visible inside the battery compartment. The label also identifies the unit as a Product of Roland, Japan.
The pedal shows substantial cosmetic wear consistent with age and previous use, including numerous scratches, scuffs, paint chips, edge wear, marks, and discoloration. Wear is visible on the enclosure, control area, knobs, footswitch area, and bottom.
No AC adapter, battery, box, manual, or other accessories are included.

The blue enclosure has numerous scratches, scuffs, paint chips, marks, and areas of finish wear. Paint loss is particularly visible around the edges and corners.
The control area and knobs show scratches, marks, discoloration, and general wear. The footswitch rubber and bottom section also show visible age- and use-related wear.
The battery compartment shows signs of previous use.
