CHRISTOFLE, Paris. Founded in 1830 by Charles Christofle, the maison became the official supplier of Louis Philippe and later of Napoleon III, for whom it created a monumental table service of 4,000 pieces presented at the Universal Exhibition of 1855. In the twentieth century Christofle adapted to the evolution of tastes with modern design collections, including the famous Albi (1968), characterized by sober and functional lines, and the Atlante (1968), defined by the same maison pieces with essential, rigorous lines and no ornaments.
