I can't think of anything that is considered better fuzz than The analog Man Sun Face. So many fuzzes in the world doing so many things to avoid patents and such. If you go to The analog Man purchase site you can see just how many options you can get on a sunface. I can't find the original packing slip for it so I can't remember which RCA Bart option this one is but I'm assuming it's the higher gain one but someone who knows and is purchasing this pedal should be smart enough to figure out either with Google or their own eyeballs and brain from the screenshot which one it is. They're pretty distinct parts in there. The knob on the right top has a detent switch when all the way turned counterclockwise to turn the pedal off. Really don't understand that option LOL if you're going to have the RCA with the DC and the sundial why would you really care about being true to the circuit and being able to shut it off that way I don't know why it exists that way. Maybe it saves the battery when you're using the battery but like I said it has DC so it's meant for somebody who wants to extract a pedal off their pedal board and insert this one. If you know all of the lore...
It goes first or is your only pedal. They insist this everywhere you read about it. So of course the first place I put it to try it out was right in the middle just before delays but after phasers and deja vibe
And I don't really care how Jimi Hendrix or some old guy born in the forties sets up their pedal board to get THEIR optimum sound, and I've read and seen everywhere where they say it has to be first in line.., but put there it just sounds so incredible it's unbelievable. It is absolutely stunning into a fender twin after your deja vibe circuit and before your delay though. Put your pitch effect somewhere too?
They insist that this ability to roll it back on your volume knob and it'll be clean isn't the necessity that I feel needs to be the selling point but apparently it is the big selling point. The first thing an old guy is going to do when they try out your pedal or if you're an old guy is roll back that volume knob on your guitar. You got to make sure you feature that LOL meanwhile I'm running the thing on stun practically full bore and just hearing what I want to hear. But to really enjoy the way I did you can put a compressor on either side of it as well which is a cardinal sin. But it allows you to dial in just about every ripping lead tone that came from that era. I'm not saying I'm doing it like a purist I'm saying it works for me. Throw on whatever single coil second fourth position Stratocaster into this thing and you can immediately start filming your tick tock videos saying you're better than Jimi Hendrix
Really all it took was you putting up the big bucks. Very similar to the 1987 pedal. There's a million ways to get the 1987 tone but if you can never get your hands on a 1987 pedal by all pedal and you like the '80s it's unbelievable how cool that pedal is with just that small amount of knobs. But anyway this is kind of like that. You can't just run into the studio and steal this one. It costs a lot of money from analog Man and with a casual search you're actually going to see that I'm not charging enough LOL you're only saving money because the leap of faith of which RCA Bart is it? Both of them are awesome LOL but kind of different so when you hear it you know maybe you got to buy both of them to hear what the difference is.
Without turning any of the internal switches or doing anything to it which you better not do if you plan on sending it back to me or something, it's an incredibly ripping tone that turns heads. Cover your pedal board with something like a towel and look at your bandmates face when they realize you dumped that much money into one guitar tone LOL
Let's do the math real quick. Or maybe Google will do it for you. Jimi Hendrix is holding in his hand the same circuits as the sun face analog Mans. Let's say you put that away and it didn't rust or rot or anything bad happen to it and you pulled that out from 1968 in 2026. You would have had to have that thing hidden somewhere and now look at how much it's worth.
This pedal assumes you understand how much some of these parts cost as well. Huge tariffs. Huge yeah. Yeah read that like you're from one of the boroughs. Huge
So here you go. You're going to notice the little bag for some reason that the sun on it is not as distinct as every other analog Man pedal you have. Something different in the process or something I don't know. But it's never gotten wet that's for sure. It's not even a question it just came that way. It was disappointing when I saw it but what the hell do you do with the bag anyway?
You can also enter the debate on Facebook and really get into those comments sections with the people who say that Chinese knockoffs and mini pedals are the way to go and you can tell them that the box for this pedal will sell for more than two of their guitar pedals without a pedal in it. You can mention that the postage for this guitar pedal was slightly more than what one of their favorite petals cost.
And your best bet if you're not really a savings guy is to return and notice that those same people didn't last 365 days with some of those pedals. Their favorite ones. That golden horse overdrive usually has a shelf life of about a year in New England because of the temperature changing. In my results at least. But you'll never see a boss pedal that's broken unless it was somebody messing with it or something but they're never broken from normal use.
Anyway the box is shipped inside of a better box to protect it. Promptly shipped every time on every product so that's not an issue. No power source although this one does take one. You'll find that is an argument with some of the old guys in which the same guy who purchased this didn't get the LED to tell him it's on, again for whatever purest reason. Necessity I don't know. I don't understand how much they saved versus how much they spent and what options could be used with each other.
Take a little time and go check out analog Man and I'll tell you right now you can probably find one that you can put your own weird options on. But this one is a unicorn because the options are actually cool. You get the benefit of no LED which means something better about the tone I don't know what that is but there it is.
Never taken too far on the road. Took it out of the box to demonstrate it to the band and put it back into the box and back into my car. That's how careful you get to be with these guys.
Really a great starting point for a good collection. A good collection requires something that shows your interest and your interest could be shown just by going and figuring out which one this is I'm sure if you sent the picture of the inside of it to analog Man he'd answer pretty quickly what it is he can tell by the numbers and what it's written there.
But it's a sunface hybrid and they go for a lot of dough. I'd like to see Facebook actually be like it used to be 6 years ago. Instead of not liking people from other places you could appreciate the fact that the people in other places have different increments on their money. Maybe not politicize worldwide selling and making people scared about a global economy when it actually is an incredible way to help ours. Large tariffs on the Japanese make me get on my soapbox and wonder didn't they go through an earthquake and tidal wave that we promised we'd help them with for a few years? Must suck for them to have to really give up the worldwide market because they don't get along with us in Canada now too.
It really sucks cuz that was the Crux of my business. Canadians not understanding the exchange rate was the fun part but checking in on what they were selling and noticing wow that's actually pretty cheap even after the conversion rate will never happen again cuz they hate people like me for some reason now. The global economy has been squished into this purchase everything in America motif. And if you're going to do that this is what you should be purchasing. Because I happen to know this dude ain't going to be doing this much longer. I made the wise investment many years ago the purchase these things when they were a little cheaper. Go and see how much it is to replace this and I think it'll drop your jaw
You're actually saving money especially if you're in another country and you go through me
I don't know though the market's all messed up. Go get one of your own with your own weird options and you'll be just like me trying to sell it late or not remembering what the heck it had or maybe you'll save the paperwork
If it really isn't your style pedal you can actually return it for the price of the shipping. Really not that much if you live on the Eastern seaboard.
Please excuse if it sounds like you can detect my voting tendencies from my earlier conversation but it also falls into the category of it's difficult to find decent things made in America because none of us helped raise these youths quote correctly
So buy this pedal for somebody young and have them skip the entire checkers chess board of using crappy equipment and being online saying that Chinese pedals are better or they have a kemper setting that'll knock your aunt Connie's socks off..
Give them a chance to be on that same playing field with decent equipment. If you're a baby boomer why don't you buy this for your grandkid for Christmas? They really could use the leg up on the line 6 cowboys
Hey I can't even give this a decent write-up. I even asked Google to like deep dive on this subject and it all comes back to the same thing
YOU CAN GET A CLEAN TONE IF YOU ROLL YOUR VOLUME KNOB BACK BUT IT HAS TO BE FIRST ON YOUR PEDAL BOARD!
This is so important that it had to be capital letters and if you know you know and you know why I'm making fun of it. Hey maybe you can put it after a dl4 and an entire pedal board of modulation. Post that video online and I guarantee you you will get the clicks you need and maybe make back the price of this pedal in less than a few hours enraging baby boomers
