This hand-carved Ushabti figure, made from faience, is a remarkable example of ancient Egyptian funerary art. Dating from the Late Period to Ptolemaic Period (664–30 B.C.), it would have been placed in a tomb to serve as a labor substitute for the deceased, in accordance with Egyptian beliefs about the afterlife. The faience glazing imparts a reflective finish, showcasing the craftsmanship of the period.
