The Aiwa XC-700 is a
legendary vintage CD player released in 1991 that punches vastly above its
weight class due to its extraordinary internal components. While its exterior
looks like a standard, lightweight 1990s plastic component, it shocked
audiophiles by housing an incredibly premium Philips SAA7350 Bitstream
digital-to-analogue converter (DAC). Reserved often for high end decks.
The player boasts a
wide 2 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response, a 105 dB signal-to-noise ratio, and
ultra-low distortion (THD <0.0025%). This technical precision rewards
listeners with deep, weighty bass, an articulated midrange, and highly fluid
musical timing.
For connectivity, it
pairs standard 2.0V RCA outputs with an optical TOSLINK digital output, making
it easy to link to modern external DACs and amplifiers. The central disc
