WWII U.S. military survival machete, as issued to USN pilots. Made with wood handle secured by rivets, and includes the original detachable metal blade guard — a critical piece often missing from these sets.
This is a folding survival machete of the type issued to USN flight crews as part of their survival kit (M-592 Para Pad/Back Pad Kit).. The guard allows the blade to be secured for storage or extended for use.
Condition: Used military surplus condition. The blade shows surface rust, dark patina, and pitting consistent with age and storage. The wood handle is solid with honest wear. The metal guard is intact with some paint loss and light oxidation. No sheath or box included. Sold as found.
