Rare vintage Trans-Comm Model 2701 “Transportable” portable entertainment and communications system, dating to approximately 1976. This was featured in the World Radio History Magazine in 1976 I have included in the pictures.

This unusual all-in-one unit was factory housed in a tackle-box-style portable case and combines a 23-channel CB radio, AM/FM stereo radio, 8-track tape player, built-in speakers, microphone, and telescoping antenna.

The interior factory label identifies it as:

Trans-Comm Mfg. Co., Inc.

Serial No. 5882

Leawood, Kansas

Period advertising for the Model 2701 describes it as Trans-Comm’s combination portable system featuring CB, AM/FM stereo, 8-track player, three speakers, microphone, and antennas.

Condition:

Vintage pre-owned condition with age-related wear, scuffs are very minimal.  Some wiring inside appears to be disconnected or loose, as shown in the photos. Because of this, the unit has not been tested, and no attempt has been made to connect, power on, or repair it.

Selling as-is, untested, for restoration, repair, display, or collection. No guarantees are made regarding the functionality of the CB radio, AM/FM radio, 8-track player, speakers, microphone, or other electronic components.

Appears substantially complete with the original portable case, microphone, antenna, radio components, 8-track player, and internal speaker system.
