Up for auction is a specialized study lot of six classic 1850s Austrian Empire definitives featuring the embossed profile of Emperor Franz Joseph I. The lot contains two 5kr red, two 10kr brown, and two 15kr blue values, offering a fantastic mix of printing varieties.
Included are both the scarcer 1858 Type I variations (characterized by the hair ribbon loop broken at the top to resemble a 3) and the 1859 Type II printings (showing a fully enclosed loop). A major highlight of this lot is a rare imperforate example of the 10kr brown bearing a Szegedin postmark, alongside a highly crisp, centered circular SZEGED town cancel on a blue 15kr value. Other postal history details include a bold Weisskirchen cancel. Condition varies from fine used with sharp perforations to a space-filler copy with side edge wear. Please view the high-resolution scan to evaluate the individual embossing depth, types, and cancels. This lot is sold together as one unit
