Arklow Pottery Ireland Indian Tree Demitasse Coffee Cups Saucers & Jug Set of 5 Vintage
DESCRIPTION
Arklow Pottery Indian Tree coffee set, made in the Republic of Ireland, pattern 2428: five demitasse coffee cups, five saucers and a matching milk jug.
Indian Tree is the much-loved classic pattern of a gnarled brown flowering tree with pink and magenta peony blossoms and blue and green foliage, framed by a Greek-key border with coral-red accents. Arklow's version is on warm cream earthenware with gilt rims, gilt handles and a gilt foot line. The cups are small after-dinner coffee size and the jug has a shaped spout and a looped gilt handle. Arklow Pottery in County Wicklow made tableware from 1934 to 1998, and this backstamp dates the set to around the 1950s-60s.
A charming set for after-dinner coffee, a vintage tea party or display, and a nice find for collectors of Irish pottery.
Each piece marked on the base: Arklow Pottery AP monogram, Made in Republic of Ireland, 2428.
