DESCRIPTION

Zöller & Born German beer stein with a hand-painted relief of German landmarks and a domed pewter lid. Made in Germany and marked on the base as a limited edition, number 3253 of 5000.

The body is moulded stoneware in deep relief, hand-painted in bright colours, showing famous sights around a winding blue ribbon of the Rhine, each named on a scroll: Rüdesheim, Dresden, Hamburg, Heidelberg, Rothenburg, München (Munich), Neuschwanstein, the Schwarzwald (Black Forest) and the Loreley, with the banner Deutschland ist schön (Germany is beautiful). Round the neck reads Deutschland Germany Allemagne, and a lower border carries folk motifs of edelweiss, a stein, fir trees, a pretzel and grapes. Glossy dark brown glaze to the rim, base and handle.

The pewter lid is domed and decorated with scrollwork, topped with a pine-cone finial, with a decorative thumb lift and a hinge strapped to the handle.

Fully marked underneath with the Zöller & Born scroll backstamp, Handgemalt Handpainted, the ZB triangle logo, Limited Edition 3253/5000, Feinsteinzeugfabrik and Made in Germany.
