[Pinup]

Vintage magazines, 1940s-50s

Various cities: Various Publishers, 1940s. Vintage magazines featuring articles, news, celebrity gossip and imagery, with some scandal coverage, sports (baseball, boxing, bullfighting), film, music, sometimes crosswords or cartoons, and usually scantily clad people. The selling point was, generally speaking, the person or situation on the front cover, often a scantily clad celebrity or model who might also be found in a layout or centerfold inside. Usually all covers were full-pg photos. Desirable issues usually include pinup covers or centerfolds, and naturally any with Marilyn Monroe or Bettie Page, or prominent artists/photographers. First printings unless noted, stapled softcovers, cover prices and page count vary, color wrappers. Fair overall, with light foxing, rubbing, toning, small tears, creases, chips, or as noted. For mature audiences.

Shubert Revue: Artists and Models, Paris Edition, 1920s, 12pp, photos throughout, seminude; Fair, wraps detached, cello tape, heavy vertical crease, edge wear.
