Offered is an original vintage 1937 lithograph of “Love Is Blind” by renowned American illustrator Bessie Pease Gutmann (1876–1960), presented in an impressive Franklin Picture Co. framed presentation. One of Gutmann’s beloved childhood compositions, Love Is Blind depicts a young girl tenderly embracing a treasured doll while another doll rests beside her and playful kittens appear in the background. The work beautifully demonstrates the soft coloring, expressive characterization and sentimental childhood imagery for which Gutmann became celebrated during the early 20th century. The Bessie Pease Gutmann name appears at the lower left of the image. The lithograph is professionally presented beneath glass with a substantial textured fabric mat, contrasting inner borders and an elegant gold-tone frame, creating excellent visual presence.
