This rare and unusual Aboriginal knife is constructed from a repurposed horseshoe blade and a shell handle. Collected on a property in Western Queensland the blade of the knife has been fashioned from a section of horseshoe iron retaining the distinctive curved profile of the original horseshoe before being worked down to a long tapering point. The iron was blacksmith by natives working on the property and has developed a deep dark reddish-brown patina with considerable surface wear and oxidation consistent with age and use. The handle is formed from a substantial piece of shell secured to the upper portion of the blade with a hard resin. The shell handle displays attractive alternating bands of ochre. It measures 14cm in length. Registered Post within Australia will be $10.20AU. Standard Airmail to the US will be $23.05AU and anywhere in Europe $28.40AU
