The Royal Bank of Scotland issued these 5-pound notes on 14 July 2015 to celebrate Jack Nicklaus's contributions to golf. The issue date coincided with the first day of the 2005 Open Golf Championship at St. Andrews, where Jack won two of his Open Championships. This is the first British Banknote to feature a living non-Royal person and one who is not a subject of the reigning monarch.
The note is in uncirculated condition and includes the illustrated sleeve with details about the note, as well as an envelope to protect the brochure. The obverse side of the note shows Jack holding the coveted Claret Jug and swinging a club. It also lists the scores in his two victories at St. Andrews in 1970 and 1978. The reverse shows Lord Ilay, the founder of the Royal Bank of Scotland on the right, and the Golden Bear logo on the left.
Jack's signature is authenticated with a Letter of Authenticity by James A. Spence.
