2002 American Silver Eagle $1 coin containing 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver, featuring a distinctive two-sided colorized September 11 memorial design.
One side features the World Trade Center Twin Towers and New York City skyline with the inscription “AMERICA REMEMBERS – SEPT. 11, 2001.”
The opposite side features firefighters raising the American flag with the inscription “REMEMBER OUR HEROES.”
This is a genuine U.S. American Silver Eagle that was privately colorized after minting. The 9/11 artwork was not applied by the U.S. Mint.
This particular combination of the Twin Towers memorial design on one side and the firefighter tribute on the other appears to be a less commonly encountered variation.
