If your state is across the country from ours or in the northern region of the country, we strongly recommend that you purchase your eggs with a Monday ship date, especially if you are choosing USPS 1-4 days Priority Mail. This will give you a greater chance of not having your package in the care of USPS over the weekend. USPS shipping times are estimates only but having your hatching eggs shipped at the beginning of the business week is a good practice. Additionally, all our listings offer the following two options for the shipment of our hatching eggs: USPS 1-4 days Priority Mail or USPS 1-2 days Priority Express Mail.

This listing is for five of each of the breeds listed, and the buyer will get at least that amount of each breed; however, our farm will send a total of a dozen hatching eggs, giving the buyer two extra eggs beyond the purchase. The extra two eggs that we send could make your total 7 of one breed and 5 of the other breed, or it could be an equal split of 6 and 6 depending on what we have fresh on hand at the time we send your order. Most of the time we have enough to send six of each, but it is listed this way to give us more flexibility for sending the freshest eggs depending on the hens each day.

Black Copper Maran Description

The French Black Copper Maran chicken is a medium size bird that is now considered a heritage breed. Currently, we are on our third and fourth generations of Black Copper Maran layers and the new hens lay darker shades of chocolate coloring than each former generation. Black Copper Marans lay between 150-200 large dark eggs with thick shells each year.

Our Black Copper Maran flocks are pure breeds, and we have stayed true with the genetics of the original flock. No other Black Copper Maran genetics have been introduced on our farm. The dark eggs do vary in shades of dark coloring depending on where each hen is in her annual molting cycle. All our hens lay extremely dark eggs as young layers or immediately after molting, which is common to purebred Black Copper Maran hens. If you are not familiar with the cycle of egg coloring in Black Copper Marans, you may want to research why a Black Copper Maran hen lays different shades of copper eggs throughout the year.

As with any hatchery we have many hens, and they are in different cycles of development. We do not guarantee that all the eggs you receive from us in a single order will be extremely dark chocolate. We do guarantee that several of the eggs you receive will be extremely dark. The lighter variations of chocolate eggs will come from the same genetics and the hens will have the same potential for laying extremely dark chocolate eggs depending on their individual development and molting cycles, as with all purebred Black Copper Marans. In essence, the extremely dark eggs that you will receive in your order were laid by hens either relatively new layers or hens who just completed their annual molts.

You will not be disappointed with the black feathers, vibrant copper flecks, or shimmer of the regal looking rooster. They are amazing creatures with soft plumage and humorous personalities. The Black Copper Maran is by far this "Chicken Lady's" personal favorite!

Olive Egger Description

Olive Egger chickens are considered rare and unique breeds that are cold and hot weather hardy. Our Olive Eggers were purchased as designer chickens that were created from a cross between Welsummer and Cream Legbars; however, we are on F1 and F2 generations of Olive Egg layers that have been bred with Black Copper Maran roosters. The hatching olive eggs that you purchase from us will be a variety of shades of medium to deep olive coloring.  If you enjoy variety, you will love these hatching eggs. ** SPECIAL NOTE: Keep in mind that these are "eggers" and with "eggers" every generation bred back to Black Copper Maran roosters can produce a copper egg layer in addition to olive egg layers; therefore, we CANNOT guarantee that you will get all olive egg layers from your hatch. On occasion we do get copper egg layers from the crossing of Olive Egg hens with Black Copper Maran roosters on the farm, as well; however, we DO guarantee NOT to send copper colored eggs to our buyers who purchase olive eggs. 

Hatching Egg Shipping and Hatching Rate on the Farm

All our hatching eggs are shipped in foam shippers specifically designed for shipping eggs. A great deal of research went into the product's design and these shippers have been very successful in protecting eggs during shipment.  Our farm has chosen to add this extra protection to every shipment to help your eggs arrive safely (see pictures) and have your greatest opportunity for a successful hatch. We guarantee fresh, fertilized, uncracked eggs will leave our farm but do not guarantee the eggs as you unpackage them. BE CAREFUL! Again, we have gone to extra care by shipping in specially designed egg shippers that have high ratings for successful egg deliveries. We encourage you to take great care when unpackaging to avoid cracking your hatching eggs. We do not send replacement eggs unless you can send pictures not only of the cracked eggs but of the unopened box that reveals unreasonable handling during transit.  It is important that you understand this before you make your purchase.

We guarantee fresh, fertilized eggs will leave our farm, but we cannot guarantee the eggs to hatch due to varying situations out of our control either with transit or incubation process. It is important that you understand this before you make your purchase.
