This is an exceptionally rare and historically significant piece: an antique wall-mounted telephone featuring an early Hunningscone Transmitter (invented by Henry Gunnell Hunnings in the late 19th century, utilizing carbon powder/granules).
Because early wooden telephones with Hunnings-type cone transmitters date back to the late 1880s and 1890s, they are much scarcer than later 20th-century GPO models and are highly sought after by serious telecommunication collectors.
Oak case is in lovely condition. Bakelite earpiece is faded from sun on one side. note broken black section in centre of mouthpiece. no key to access inside.
