Daniel J. Ryan was one of Savannah’s most prominent post-Civil War photographers, operating in the city from 1867 until about 1886. 
From the looks of the grounds so "fresh" it looks like he made have taken this view in 1875
The Confederate Monument Subject: The Confederate Monument in Forsyth Park, Savannah, was dedicated in March 1875. Views produced by Ryan right around 1875–1878 capturing the newly erected monument are highly collectible, especially when paired with an early or non-standard studio imprint on the reverse.
 Most standard D.J. Ryan stereoviews feature a simple printed negative title on the front margin or a standardized printed paper label pasted on the reverse. Finding a custom-printed full backmark or an unlisted publisher imprint from Ryan is quite uncommon, as many of his views were distributed on plain mounts or through Anthony’s generic mounts.
