Regal China in Chicago Illinois made many houseware, especially kitchen, items from 1930 to 1992.  A line by designer Van Tellingen produced from the late 1940s to the early 1950s included cookie jars, spice jars, and Van Tellingen "hugger" shakers - each pair of character shakers nested together.

This mermaid shaker is typically paired with a sailor shaker - this listing is just for the single mermaid shaker.  She is about 3-5/8 inches tall, 2-1/4 inches wide, and 3-1/4 inches front-to-back.  With hand-painted detail on her head, hands, and tail, she has rosy cheeks (front and back).  Some of the hand-painted detail looks worn but it is not - it was just lightly applied.

She has 3 holes in the top of her head, PAT. PENDING impressed on the bottom, and impressed VAN TELLINGEN on her tail that is difficult to read under the green glaze.

She is in very good vintage condition - no chips, hairlines, or crazing - and ready to use, add to a collection (with or without her sailor), or display all on her own.
