This product generally has two uses:

1. Separate the data and power of the SATA hard drive interface. Connect the motherboard's SATA interface and power cable directly. For some SATA motherboards, the BIOS must be set to AHCI mode before use (RAID mode is optional for RAID configuration).

2. Separate the data and power of the SAS hard drive interface. Connect the motherboard's SAS interface (SFF-8482) and power cable directly.

Friendly reminder: This product cannot be used to connect SAS hard drives to ordinary motherboard SATA ports. Such a cable does not exist. SAS interfaces require chip support, which cannot be achieved with a cable. Please confirm this (unless your SAS hard drive supports SATA mode, or your SATA motherboard has a built-in SAS chip).

Note: Connecting a SATA motherboard to a SAS hard drive requires one of the following conditions to work:

1. The motherboard must support SAS.

2. Or you must have an external SAS card.

3. Or your SAS hard drive must support SATA mode.

The product's function is to enable SAS hard drives with SFF-8482 interfaces to connect to SATA controllers (i.e., hybrid controllers) that support the SAS protocol; however, it cannot directly connect SAS hard drives to ordinary motherboards that only support the SATA protocol.

Only SAS hard drive that has SATA logo on the label can be used with this converter

Only if a motherboard has SAS logo (or you can confirm that the motherboard has SAS chipset), you can use this adapter.

*To effectively utilize this adapter, it is necessary that either the motherboard possesses SAS capability or the SAS hard drive is equipped with SATA capability. Compatibility with one of these specifications is essential for seamless integration and optimal performance.
