A beautiful, substantial antique Japanese Satsuma-style earthenware vase dating to the late Meiji period (late 19th to early 20th century).

This impressive 11-inch display piece features a dramatic, highly detailed dragon and phoenix meticulously sculpted onto the body using a raised moriage relief technique. Both are enveloped by intricate, stylized cloud patterns, and the top and bottom borders are adorned with a deeply textured, swirling geometric scroll motif.

The unglazed, recessed base displays a clear, impressed rectangular potter's stamp from the original workshop firing.
