Zuni Dough Bowl by Quintus Peynetsa

This stunning dough bowl is a revival piece by Zuni artist Quintus Peynetsa, based on an earlier traditional Zuni design. He is well known for his jewelry work. This is so authentic, it even has remnants of blue corn batter on the rim of the bowl!  The bowl was handmade using coils of Zuni clay then smoothed & polished before handpainting with vegetal & mineral based paints in red & dark brown. It has very thin walls and is finely painted. This is signed Quintus Peynetsa & dated 1984 on the back. It measures approx 3.25" H x 9.5" W x 9.5" D. This makes me wish he had created more pottery, as it is exquisite!
