Miniature Passamaquoddy Owl by Hiyatsi Bassett

This miniature pottery owl is covered in intricate paintings in black with a touch of reddish clay on it's face. It was made by Passamaquoddy artist Hiyatsi Bassett. This is signed on the base. It measures approx 1- 3/8" H x 5/8" W x 1" D. She participated in  the Santa Fe Indian Market for several years between 2010 & 2015. This would make a great addition to any collection of native American art!

Very good condition. There is some loss to the dark paint on it's browline.

Note: The Passamaquoddy  are one of the Wabanaki tribes found in the NE US into Canada, a group including the neighboring tribes of the Maliseet, Mi'kmaq, Penobscot & Passamaquoddy. Wabanaki means "People of the Dawnland" as the sun rises first upon North America in this geographical region where these people ancestrally lived.
