Rare 1970s Italian Modernist Brass Orb Vase – G. Piombanti Style
Exceptional vintage Italian brass vase featuring a highly distinctive sculptural orb form, concentric-circle design and dramatic wide disc-shaped mouth. Dating to approximately the late 1960s–1970s, the piece has a striking Space Age / Mid-Century Modern Italian design aesthetic and is exceptionally substantial, weighing approximately 5 lb 10 oz.
The flattened spherical body is decorated with precisely formed concentric rings that create a bold geometric, almost optical effect. A short neck rises to an oversized shallow flared disc with a remarkably small central opening, giving the piece its unusual architectural silhouette.

This vase is closely comparable in form and design to documented circa-1970s Italian vessels associated with G. Piombanti / Regali Artistici of Firenze, Italy.
Documented period examples share remarkably similar characteristics, including the rounded orb body, concentric circular decoration, short neck, broad disc-shaped mouth and substantial brass construction.
An exceptionally similar brass orb vase has also been documented as Italian production circa early 1970s, further supporting the period and Italian Modernist design attribution.

Condition
Vintage condition with significant authentic age-related surface character.
The brass displays patina, tarnish/oxidation, spotting, discoloration, scratches, scuffs, finish variation and areas of surface wear throughout. There are also a couple of dents/dings to the body, along with several small areas of heavier surface wear/corrosion visible along portions of the concentric grooves.
The underside shows additional scratches, marks and wear consistent with age and display.
The piece was gently cleaned with mild soap and water only. It has NOT been polished, and the remaining patina and surface variation have intentionally been preserved.
