The MN840 Precision Fret Gauge Tool supplies you with a trio of stainless-steel feeler gauges to evaluate low frets, check for proper fret seating, and even ensure your frets have enough height to survive a leveling job.

From common action heights to fraction/decimal conversions to multiple action gauges, the MN822 Precision Fret Rocker packs the power of an entire instrument measurement arsenal into a single do-it-all tool.

Three custom-sized feeler gauges

While the Precision Fret Rocker is more than adept at determining if a fret is high, finding a low fret can be a bit trickier. Why? When the rocker is placed across three frets, a high middle fret will naturally cause it to rock; a low middle fret won’t cause any movement at all, as the higher first and third frets will simply hold the rocker level.

Luckily, the MN870 kit comes equipped with the MN840 Precision Fret Gauge tool — a trio of stainless-steel feeler gauges, custom-sized to accomplish all your fretwork-related needs. While the fret rocker is in position, this tool’s 0.0015-inch gauge is designed to be slotted between the top of the target fret and the bottom of the rocker. If the feeler gauge makes it through, that means there’s a gap and, therefore, a low fret that will require further attention. Moreover, the MN840 also boasts a 0.004-inch gauge to check for proper fret seating and a 0.024-inch gauge to ensure your frets have enough meat left for a fret leveling job.
