The legendary William Goldman (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid & The Princess Bride) was originally hired as the screenwriter of Jaws. Goldman's adaptation was later passed over in favor of Spielberg's altered vision of the movie. That said, many don't realize that the film that galvanized a "water terrified" generation was actually based on some real events off Montauk, NY in 1964. Captain Frank Mundus, the original inspiration for the character "Quint", and a group of fishermen landed a 4500 pound Great White on June 6, 1964. This catch was made by Mundus, Peter Brandenberg, Jerome Mallow, Frank Bloom and Harvey Ferster after a reported five hour rod and reel battle. The original photocopied scrapbook created by J.P. Mallow in memory of his father, Jerome Mallow. J.P. has inscribed the photobook to Mr. William Goldman on the front cover. Includes copies of several original photos of the fishing trip and a few "news" articles about the catch of the monster fish. This story later inspired Peter Benchley's classic "Jaws."
CONTAINS THE ORIGINAL "FROM THE LIBRARY OF WILLIAM GOLDMAN" STAMP ON INSIDE FRONT COVER. A handmade book on think cardstock.
