This substantial antique Japanese tripod censer (koro) stands 10 inches tall and features a heavyweight cast design. The main body displays a masterful high-relief motif of a bird perched among blossoming branches, flanked by two stylized dragon or foo dog head handles. The vessel rests on three curved legs integrated into a sturdy circular base. It is topped with a removable lid crowned by a detailed Guardian Lion (Foo Dog) finial, which includes a subtly integrated smoke-release opening.

This item is in very good antique condition. The exterior maintains a rich, dark, unpolished patina, while the interior and hidden rim exhibit the expected bright brass-alloy metal and historical oxidation from use. The lid fits securely, dog is slightly moving as it is mounted, the structural integrity of the handles and tripod base is excellent with no major dents or repairs, slight dent on the circle of the base.
