Item #551

This is a very nice comprehensive lathe turning tool set. Combination right hand and left hand tool holders along with a center oriented holder. The inserts are grade KC9125 and is a high-performance, cobalt-enriched carbide turning grade manufactured by Kennametal.

The Ozar E-10A is an indexable turning tool holder with a 1/2-inch shank, used in metal lathe machining operations to hold replaceable carbide inserts.
## Product Details

* Tool Type: Indexable turning tool holder
* Shank Size: 1/2 inch
* Application: Metal cutting, turning, and lathe work

TCMT series triangle inserts are typically used for the style "E" 1/2-inch indexable tool holder within standard lathe sets. Specifically, it takes TCMT16T304 (ANSI equivalent: TCMT32.51) positive rake carbide inserts.
## Standard Insert Specifications

* Insert Style: TCMT (Triangular with a 7° relief angle)
* ANSI Designation: TCMT32.51
* ISO Designation: TCMT16T304
* Shape: 60° Triangle
* Clamping Screw: M4 x 10mm (typically uses a T-15 Torx key)

## Recommended Grades by Workpiece Material

* For Steel / General Purpose: Look for TiN-coated (Titanium Nitride) or CVD-coated carbide grades like Sandvik GC4325, Kennametal KCP25B, or standard PC300 grades.
* For Stainless Steel: Look for specialized tough carbide grades with PVD coatings, such as Sandvik GC2025 or Seco CP500. [6, 7]
* For Aluminum / Non-Ferrous: Use uncoated, highly-polished inserts with a sharp cutting edge (e.g., H13A grade or Kyocera KW10) to prevent material welding to the tip.

KC9125 is a high-performance, cobalt-enriched carbide turning grade manufactured by Kennametal. It is designed specifically for general-purpose metal cutting, indexing inserts, and grooving applications.

Technical Specifications & Composition

  • Substrate: Formulated with a tough, cobalt-enriched carbide base. The substrate design delivers high deformation resistance alongside high bulk toughness and edge strength. [1]
  • Coating: Features a multilayer K-MTCVD TiCN-Al2O3-TiCN-TiN (Titanium Carbonitride / Aluminum Oxide / Titanium Nitride) coating. This multilayering provides superior interlayer adhesion and acts as a thermal barrier. [1]

Core Material Applications

According to the official Kennametal Grade Data, KC9125 covers the following ISO ranges: [1, 3]
  • ISO P (P15–P35): General-purpose turning of most carbon, alloy, and tool steels.
  • ISO M (M15–M25): Efficient machining of ferritic and martensitic stainless steels.
  • Secondary Profiles: Performs reliably on select cast irons and gummy materials. [1, 3]

Machining Conditions

  • Operation Range: Optimized for moderately heavy roughing to semi-finishing cuts. For high-precision finishing operations, it is paired with the harder KC9110 companion grade.
  • Wear Optimization: The Al2O3 layer minimizes frictional heat and crater wear, significantly reducing microchipping and yielding high-quality surface finishes.

Common Insert Styles Built With KC9125

This grade is molded across standard industrial indexable insert shapes including:
  • CNMG / DNMG / SNMG: Heavy-duty negative geometries utilized for high-feed turning.
  • A4 Groove & Turn: Specialized multi-directional A4 Cut-Off and Grooving Systems.
