Wonderful pair of hard-to-find vintage Western toy pistols believed to have been manufactured by Hubley Manufacturing Company during the late 1950s to early 1960s.
These are substantial older die-cast metal toys with beautiful embossed scrollwork and the classic Old West styling that made Hubley cap pistols so popular with children during the cowboy television era.
Included in this lot:
1. Hubley Colt .45 – White / Faux Ivory Grips
Large ornate die-cast toy revolver with a bright silver-tone finish, gold-tone cylinder and attractive faux-ivory plastic grips.
The frame is marked COLT .45 and features detailed Western scrollwork.
This style dates to approximately 1958 into the early 1960s.
This model was designed differently from a traditional roll-cap pistol and appears to have originally used individual toy cap cartridges/bullets.
The mechanism on this example is not functioning properly. The trigger/hammer mechanism does not appear to operate as it should when cocked and pulled.
It is therefore being sold as a vintage collectible / display piece and for parts or repair.
No toy cartridges or caps are included.
2. Hubley Ric-O-Shay .45 – Black Grips
Beautiful large die-cast Western toy pistol with black plastic grips, silver-tone body and extensive decorative scrollwork.
This model appears to be Hubley's collectible Ric-O-Shay .45, dating to approximately 1960.
The Ric-O-Shay was an unusual Hubley design made to use roll caps and produce its distinctive Western-style cap/ricochet effect.
The cap-roll compartment/mechanism is visible when opened, as shown in the photographs.
This example shows age-related use and wear but retains a very attractive vintage appearance.
CONDITION
Both pieces are vintage and show normal wear consistent with age and childhood use, including surface scratches, finish wear, tarnish/discoloration and other age-related imperfections.
The silver-tone finishes and ornate decorative details still display very nicely.
The black-handled Ric-O-Shay has its internal roll-cap area present.
The white-handled Colt .45 does not function correctly and should be considered non-working / parts or repair.
