This is a beautiful Sheaffer Snorkel fountain pen in the gold-filled "Triumph" design (this was the design just one down from the solid gold casing), boxed and with papers. The Snorkel was made between 1953 - 1959, so this pen is at least 65 years old.
The pen is in bright and shiny condition throughout - no personalised engraving (vacant cartouche) and the pen body carries handling wear is commensurate with being c 65 years of age. There are some dinks to the very top and bottom of the pen (common, with this bullet shape) and some cap wear to the barrel, from where the cap was posted.
The mechanism is hissing and puffing, but not working, and would benefit from being serviced.
Dip testing was a delight - the nib is a relatively rare extra fine (perhaps it would be considered a "Fine" in the USA) and writes with excellent needle-sharp precision and has little flex. A real joy for the precise writer or the book-keeper.
The box is in good condition with some age spots to the interior. The papers include the instructions (with some writing to them) and an advert for Skrip ink.
I will send this beauty under very protected wrapping, delivered via tracked and signed Royal Mail. Please note if you are buying from outside the UK, this pen will be delivered by the eBay Global Shipping Programme and it will take around 10 days to get to your door.
