Antique 7-inch swing bit brace drill, a traditional hand-powered woodworking tool used for drilling holes in wood before the widespread use of electric drills.
Bit braces were essential tools in carpentry, cabinetmaking, furniture making, timber framing, and general woodworking. Their ratcheting or rotating action allowed craftsmen to use auger bits and other bits to bore holes accurately and efficiently.
Overall in really nice condition. The middle handle is cracked and looks to be glued. Spins but with resistance. The top larger handle spins nicely and is in good shape. Marked but I can’t make out.
- 15oz
- 7” swing
