Samurai Penguin

Issue #1 • Slave Labor Graphics • June 1986

Samurai Penguin #1 launches Dan Vado and Mark Buck's offbeat independent series from Slave Labor Graphics. Set in Antarctica, the story follows a penguin trained in bushido who defends his flock against an alliance of predators.

Written by Dan Vado with art and cover by Mark Buck, this debut issue combines martial-arts adventure with the animal-comic style that became prominent during the mid-1980s independent comics boom.
