The pen has no dents, marks or dinks anywhere, even at the vulnerable barrel / cap ends - only light handling wear is visible under magnification.  The cap top has an immaculate Pelikan lacquer medallion inlaid.  The crosshatch pattern is light-catching and bright throughout.  There is no show-through anywhere on the thick rolled gold - it is glossy and complete.  The cap is stamped around the edge:  PELIKAN - ROLLED GOLD - GERMANY.  The cap pulls off to reveal a deep, sapphire blue ink window, and the large 18K / 750 wing nib.  The nib is fine, and it is known as HARD FINE ie it flexes somewhat in the middle, but is designed so that the tines do not split apart - thus it is perfectly suited to fast, precise writing without a dead / needle-like performance.  It was very smooth, precise and buttery in dip-testing - fine nibs are my least favourite, but this one has a generosity which I really did like it.

Pelikan has always produced beautiful pens - this, though, is one of the more unusual and something of a connoisseur's specialism.  It does not carry the recognisable beak clip, and being without the piston, it is a real move away from the traditional Pelikan materials and "hallmark" style and design.  The P60 / M60 were the flagship pens of the Pelikan range in the late 1960s, and would retail for 120DM - which is equivalent to around £230 in today's money.  These were not cheap pens, and it shows.

There is some important niche knowledge here regarding cartridge fitting and converter fitting to a Pelikan:  thepelikansperchDOTcom/2015/07/13/pelikan-cartridge-converter-fit/ (replace the DOT with a real dot).  The important fact is that the converter or cartridges are held snugly in place by the barrel pressing down on them - having a loose or virtually disconnected one when the pen is opened up, is NORMAL.  You'll see this foible beautifully explained in that link.  This pen has a brand new Schmidt K5 converter fitted (the pen also takes a Pelikan C499 converter, they are in fact the same, simply branded differently).  I have also included some standard international cartridges, which are very easy to source in a vast range of colours.  But please read the article regarding how you need to put 2 cartridges in, if the short ones, in order to keep the ink tightly contained, plus how the converter sits relatively freely inside the pen section.
