This was first published in the author's native Australia in 1978. This is the first U. S. Edition, beautifully produced by David R. Godine. Keneally provides an explanatory note about some specifically Australian references for his American readers.
This is a marvelous fantasy about a hospitalized boy who is magically reduced in size and spends the summer in the community of a bee hive. The illustrations do a lot to enhance our understanding of this remarkable experience.
