The Teisco Spectum 5, a masterpiece born in Japan 60 years ago and still respected by bizarre guitar fans worldwide. This item is a reissue model released in the 1990s, right in the middle of the bizarre guitar movement.
While I only remember natural headstocks from previous reissues, this one features a matching headstock. ◎The white plate surface of the headstock has a hazy texture, as if a clear coat had been applied, but it's barely noticeable unless you shine a light on it and adjust the angle. There is no haze or roughness on the painted surface of the matching headstock, so it seems unrelated.
Since the 2010s, several reissues have seen compromises in reproduction due to cost-cutting, such as the bridge being replaced with a generic Tune-O-Matic type. However, this item faithfully reproduces even the roller saddles from the '60s, contributing not only to the look but also to tuning stability when using the tremolo arm.
It's hard to notice unless pointed out, but there is a faint rectangular sticker mark on the body top where your elbow rests. (Please check the body images.) While there are some minor paint chips and dents, which are normal signs of use, the damage is relatively mild for an instrument approximately 30 years old. The frets have over 80% remaining, and the truss rod is functioning well with ample adjustment range in both directions.
The neck has a very slight warp, but currently the string height at the 12th fret is approximately 1.5mm for the 1st string and 1.6mm for the 6th string. There are no localized buzzing issues, and playability is good. *The hard case shown in the images is for photographic purposes only; a generic, unbranded gig bag is included.
