Rosemeade Pottery in Wahpeton ND made numerous hand-painted pottery shapes from 1940 to 1961.  Their many animal- and vegetable-shaped salt and peppers and figurines were very popular items in the area's souvenir shops.  Often depicting animals and vegetables native to the area, they were very realistically shaped, detailed, and colored.

While maybe this pig salt and pepper set in a glossy turquoise glaze are standing up and may not be very realistic, they are still great examples of Rosemeade's attention to detail in the figures' design - the way their pig tails curl on backs is great.  They are the same size - about 4 inches tall, 2 inches wide, and 1-3/4 inches front-to-back.  The pepper shaker with 3 holes still has an original foil label.  The salt shaker has 4 holes.

Over 60 years old, these are in very good vintage condition - no chips, hairlines, or crazing - and ready add to a collection or display all on their own.
