Vintage hand-carved wooden lidded container featuring a detailed African safari/wildlife scene in relief around the exterior, including elephants and other animals among trees. The removable lid is topped with a carved animal figure that appears to be a hippo.

Approximately 5” wide. Dark stained/polished wood with visible natural grain. Unmarked as far as shown. Likely a decorative trinket jar, keepsake container, or possibly spice/tea container. Similar carved animal lidded vessels are commonly described as African decorative woodwork, though I wouldn’t claim a specific country without a mark or provenance.
