An unusual Celtic style sterling silver letter opener with the top being in the form of St Cuthberts Cross. There is a lot of interesting information about St Cuthbert online. The makers initials were not impressed clearly but the assay mark is for Chester and I believe the date letter is for 1927.

Approx weight 19 grams.

Condition. When you run your fingers down the letter opener you can feel some very gentle bends which can also be seen when you hold the letter opener at eye level. These are just age/use related. What I would call a very minor surface fault from the time of making just where the cross joins the main part of the letter opener (see close up photo 6.) There are no bends or damage to the St Cuthbert’s cross. I have given this letter opener a polish.

Approx size. Max length 18cm.
