Angell family is one of the largest and most important silversmith and jewellery manufacturers and retailers in London in the mid 19th century.
Joseph Angell (senior) entered his first mark in 1811.
Known for meticulous attention to detail and the ability to create intricate designs and patterns. They were particularly skilled in creating ornate silver masterpieces and other household items, which were highly sought after by the wealthy and aristocratic families of the time.
A fine & superb early Victorian solid sterling silver Wine Ewer / Claret Jug, with an elegant
melon shaped fluted body design, with a stunning cast blossom flowers in grape vine form with excellent quality and which also decorate the sides of the spouts edge.
Standing on cast flowers are spreading pedestal base also featuring just above the pedestal is a very stylish, lace detailed petticoat wine / drip collar.
An elegant large C scroll handle topped with an acanthus leaf thumb rest.
This Claret / Wine Jug has a beautiful balance, a great easy pour and very easily controllable.
Wonderful gauge of solid sterling silver used, hence its beautiful bright shine / lustre and weight.
Highly polished finish, looks amazing and in wonderful order.
Fabulous condition, obviously spent its life loved and well looked after, as it’s free from any dents, dints or nasty scratches, free from any leaks and looks absolutely wonderful in situation.

This Wine Ewer / Claret Jug is a genuine antique, its over 185 years of age, it does have a beautifully polished finish and will show some marks commensurate with age and use , although they would be very minor.
